When I try to log on, nothing happens.

It is likely that your browser is refusing cookies. ("Cookies" are small pieces of data that websites use to identify you). Try amending your browser's settings to allow "per-session cookies".

In Internet Explorer, you can do this as follows:

  1. From the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  2. Go to the Security tab and click Custom Level.
  3. Find 'Allow per-session cookies' in the list, and make sure that 'Enable' is selected.
  4. Click OK.

How do I browse the list of items that Birmingham Data Storage Centre are holding?

  1. Go to the [Items held] page.
    This page lists the Identity (e.g. tape number) of all items being held, together with other useful information.
  2. Click Previous and Next to browse back and forth through the list.
  3. If you are looking for a particular item, fill in its Identity in the search box, and click Search.

How do I request that items be delivered to me?

  1. Go to the [Items held] page.
  2. Enter the Identity (e.g. tape number) you want, and click Search.
  3. You will see the item(s) that match your request. If these item(s) are correct, click "Book out these items".
  4. On the next page, click "Submit request" to send your request to us.

How do I cancel my requests?

Unfortunately you are not able to amend or cancel requests using the website. Please contact us if you have made a request in error.

How can I see the status of my requests?

Go to the [Pending requests] page. This page lists all the requests you have recently made, together with their status. Note that once your request has been processed there may be a delay before it is delivered to you.
